Nine Inch Nails Cover David Bowie’s “I Can’t Give Everything Away” & Perform New Songs Live At First Show In Three Years

Last night July 19), Nine Inch Nails played their first show in three years at the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, CA. During the concert, the band performed a cover of the David Bowie song “I Can’t Give Everything Away.” Trent Reznor told the crowd the following:

“It’s been awhile since we’ve played a show. At the beginning of last year we lost someone who was very important to us, and me personally, David Bowie. We were in the studio kind of messing around, and it felt like we needed to do something, to process it in some way, so we worked on a song of his that gave us some sort of closure. It felt good to us, we didn’t release it, but we’ll play it for you now.”

Interestingly, the band played the “Farewell Mix” of the track, which was posted anonymously on the one year anniversary of “Blackstar.” Nine Inch Nails were rumored to have done that remix, so now it seems the rumors were true.

In other news, the band also played some new songs including: “Branches/Bones” and “Burning Bright (Field On Fire)” from “Not The Actual Events” and “Less Than” and “The Lovers” from “Add Violence.”
