Brass Against’s Sophia Urista Issues Apology Following Onstage Urination

Brass Against’s Sophia Urista has issued an apology after urinating on a fan during the band’s November 11 set at the Welcome To Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, FL. As previously reported, the audience member in question volunteered to let the singer relieve herself on his face after she made it clear that she was in need of a restroom.

Urista said the following:

“Hey everyone. I want to speak to my performance at Rockville metal festival in Daytona.

I have always pushed the limits in music and onstage. That night, I pushed the limits too far.

I love my family, the band, and the fans more than anything and I know some were hurt or offended by what I did. I apologize to them and want them to know that I didn’t mean to hurt them.

I am not a shock artist. I always want to put the music first. I’m grateful for all of your continued love and support.”

Despite the apology, the band have since been banned from events organized by Danny Wimmer Presents and NASCAR-affiliated venues. Danny Wimmer Presents CEO Danny Hayes commented:

“I’m starting to be asked about Brass Against. Let me be clear. I am disgusted by their actions. We are removing them from Voragos and all future DWP events. I apologize to all of the families in the audience. Rock does not need cheap stunts when we have so many amazingly talented bands.”

NASCAR spokesperson Ruyssell Branham also issued a statement:

“Daytona International Speedway doesn’t condone the inappropriate actions that took place during Thursday’s Welcome to Rockville event. We are working with promoter Danny Wimmer Presents to address the issue. The band will not be included in future programming at NASCAR venues.”

This news comes after it was revealed that the incident is being investigated by the police. If charged with indecent exposure, Urista could face a year in jail or a $1,000 fine.
