Arch Enemy Are “Slowly Working On A New Album”

During a recent interview with Fox 31 Denver, Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott discussed the band’s plans for new music. According to him, the group are “slowly working on a new album.”

Amott said the following:

“We did kind of put together one song [‘To The Last Breath’] very quickly when [vocalist] Lauren [Hart] joined ’cause we felt it was important to showcase her voice on her own song and have that out there for the fans to enjoy before we hit the road. And then since then, now we’re booking… There’s been such an enormous interest in booking us for live stuff, for touring all over the world, and the reaction was so strong, so now we’re just kind of doing that. And I think it’s kind of cool to go out on the road and really become a really solid unit and solidify that partnership. I compare it… It’s like we’re getting to know each other before we buy a house. And then we’re slowly working on a new album as well. So that’s in the works. But we’re doing that in between in the little gaps. But we are working on it. But I think it really has to be a great album. It should be great songs, great music and just feel right. So, yeah, it takes a bit of time. It doesn’t just happen like that.”

He continued when asked if he gets inspired to write new material on the road:

“Well, speaking for myself, I think it’s more like I collect a lot of energy and impressions on the road, but I need to get back home to sort of just sort it all out and decompress. And then I always think, ‘I’m not gonna play guitar for a month,’ but two days later I’m there in my little studio playing guitar. And it just is what it is. But, yeah, it’s definitely inspiring to travel around and see different… meet people, different people and cultures and everything. It’s cool. It all comes out somehow in the end.”
