During Sex Pistols’ October 9 show at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, Colorado, a male fan caused some drama after taking issue with a women-only mosh pit. As such, he ended up getting ejected by the band’s current frontman Frank Carter.

Carter said the following:
“Ladies if you’ve ever wanted to mosh or dance in a safe environment without getting an elbow to the fucking face… What’s the matter? No, listen, shut the fuck up. Shut up. Shut the fuck up, Just stop fucking talking. There’s always fucking one. Let me get to the end of the fucking story and then get on the fucking stage. Just shut the fuck up. Every fucking time.
Every time, there’s always a man that tells me, ‘[Women] can do this all the fucking time.’ Like, they can’t. They fucking can’t. Do you know why? Because they walk in the mosh pit and they get a fucking elbow to the head by a fucking idiot!
You’re shaking your head like you’re a fucking ‘woman’? Are you fucking stupid? It’s not your lived experience, so just shut the fuck up! Fuckin’; Christ. Every fucking time. You’re still shaking your fucking head. Do you know what, instead of crouching, just fucking leave, bro!
There ya go then. How is it so difficult for you to see space made for women at a Sex Pistols gig? How the fuck did you decide? ‘No! They can fucking do this whenever.’ Ask any one of them if they feel safe in every mosh pit! Don’t roll your f*cking eyes at me—you fucking did this. You did this!”
He continued after the fan mentioned the venue’s all-gender bathroom:
“That’s brilliant. I’m fucking super grateful that there’s an all-gender bathroom here. I love that. There is no… [bangs mic on head].
That’s what it’s like. That’s what it’s like. Banging your fuckin’ head off a brick wall. Are you lot fucking ready? Because this is for you, it’s not for him.”
He went on to say “now listen gentlemen, gentlemen, you have a responsibility…,” before being interrupted again. He then called on the security guards:
“Are you fucking seriously doing this? Oi, security, just get this fuckin’ lump outta here.”
Carter also told the fan they weren’t welcomed there:
“And you know what? If you’ve got a fucking problem with me, you can see me outside after geezer…”
Once the fan was removed, Carter added:
“Right, as I was fucking say before I was rudely interrupted by a man that wanted to tell me that, actually, there’s no gender inequality in the world; If you’ve ever wanted to dance in a safe environment, without the risk of getting an elbow to the face by some hardcore ninja, or being groped by some absolute fucking Neanderthal, or even worse, being mansplained for three fucking minutes that actually you can dance, this is your chance to do in a safe environment, where not only all the fucking girls will have your back, but all the other men in the room now, will keep all the other fucking drunk men out the fucking way, and they will let you occupy the space, that they have occupied their whole fucking lives, and they didn’t even fucking know. And the best part is, you get to do it the best Sex Pistols song ever, and he’s gonna fucking miss it, this is called ‘No Fuckin’ Feelings.’”
Carter has since issued a statement as well:
“If you are a man who gets offended by a band making room for a female only moshpit then you are PART OF THE PROBLEM. Stay home, read a book by Bell Hooks, come back when kindness, compassion and empathy have landed with you. Incels, homophobes, misogynists, racists, fascists not welcome. Also this isn’t up for debate. I don’t care for your pedantry. If it isn’t your lived experience, don’t fucking speak on it. If you are offended by being told something isn’t for you then imagine how it feels to be a woman in the current climate. And finally… When I say a Ladies only moshpit pit. I of course mean a trans inclusionary space. The space is for people who don’t usually feel safe… To dance and have fun without the worry of physical, sexual or psychological violence being used against them while they are vulnerable. DO NOT LET THEM DIVIDE US.”
