As previously reported, Matt Zane is currently working on an unauthorized documentary focusing on Wayne Static (Static-X) and Tera Wray. The self-funded film, which did not receive approval from the late married couple’s families, is also expected to feature previously unreleased music from Static. Amid the controversy, Zane has now shared a new video in which he comments on Static-X’s “Zombie” and how it allegedly pokes fun at Static’s addiction issues Wray’s influence on him. The clip also features apparent leaked footage of Edsel Dope (aka Xer0) making some disparaging comments about Static.

Zane started the clip with the below intro:

“My name is Matt Zane and I am the director of the unauthorized documentary about Wayne Static and his wife Tara Ray coming out in 2027. I have a very special update today with an appearance by none other than Edsel Dope. But before we get to those clips check out this post that I made a couple months ago explaining the premise behind the song ‘Zombie.’”

He said the following in that inserted video:

“If you’re familiar with the song Zombie and if you don’t believe me I implore you to go check it out it is a music video that basically depicts Wayne Static as a brain-dead Frankenstein zombie that takes drugs and then meets his wife Tera who’s also played by a weird thing in the video. He’s just basically brainless and a zombie you know he’s a slave to Tera and it’s just you know has them all stupid and just you know dumb walking around like not being able to make his own decisions.

You know that’s what that music video is about and so they take that character from the video and then they made a puppet out of it and then they prayed it around on stage every single night when they play while they’re singing the song basically saying in the song calling Tera ‘she’s a psycho she’s a psycho she’s a psycho’ and they’re doing it in front of all of your faces out there and making you cheer for it.

I mean that’s their inside joke of basically the way that they actually felt about him and the funny thing is is that you’re going to tell me right now you’re just speculating about this but a lot of people don’t realize I worked for Static X for six years until I quit last year. I was around during the inception of it the touring the making of the music videos I co-directed all those videos so I really knew how they felt and what they were really going for. They just decided to do it because they just thought it was you know like a cool inside joke amongst all of them.”

He then continued while also stitching in a couple of quotes from Edsel Dope:

“After I made that post a lot of people hit me back and just basically said that’s your opinion it’s speculation it’s just really your interpretation of the video and I tried to explain to people no I actually knew what it was about but nobody believed me so here is Edsel himself explaining it:

‘That was one of his riffs and he called the riff ‘Zombie,’ but it had no words had no lyrics or anything I was like I like the title and I’d already written a bunch of songs like I’m gonna write this song about how he turned into a zombie from drugs and about how she was the catalyst for it so that’s what the video in the song.’

There you go that’s really what the band thought about Wayne it’s drugged up goofy zombie being led around by his wife Tera Wray and they did base that puppet that they parade around on stage every night on the animation in the video and they make all of you cheer for it.

So what else did Edsel really think about Wayne behind closed doors and his battle with substances? Well listen to Edsel:

‘This is no problem like thanks bro you’re gonna go become a junkie and I’m gonna end up with your fucking job.’

Go back and listen to that again he basically just said thanks for becoming a junkie and dying so I could take your job. I didn’t say it, he did.”
