Released in 2003, Thirteenth Step marked A Perfect Circle’s highly anticipated follow-up to their acclaimed debut, Mer de Noms. Expanding beyond the band’s alternative-metal foundation, the album explores themes of addiction, recovery, and personal transformation through a collection of emotionally resonant songs and atmospheric production. Led by vocalist Maynard James Keenan and guitarist/songwriter Billy Howerdel, the record balances introspective songwriting with dynamic arrangements, creating one of the most distinctive rock albums of the early 2000s.
