The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra have booked two “Gothenburg Sound” shows. The concerts will find them performing music from In Flames, At The Gates, and Dark Tranquillity. Josef Rhedin will be conducting the new compositions, which were put together by Johan Lindström and John Metcalfe.

Here’s the dates:
12/04 Gothenburg, SWE – Konserthus
12/05 Gothenburg, SWE – Konserthus
The orchestra said the following:
“Even those who have never set foot at a hard rock concert will recognize themselves in the melodic world. Much of the Gothenburg sound is close to Swedish folk music and traditional classical music – with clear melancholy, long melodies and a varied expression where the raw and the sweet meet.
The concert is also a warm tribute to the memory of Tomas ‘Tompa’ Lindberg. As the frontman of At The Gates, Lindberg was one of the most important figures behind the Gothenburg sound.”
Dark Tranquillity also commented:
“It’s a great honor to finally announce that the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra will perform a tribute to the “Gothenburg Sound”.
This has been in the works for quite some time, and hearing Dark Tranquillity, together with songs from At the Gates and In Flames, translated for a full orchestra is something we never could have imagined when this all began.
GSO is Sweden’s national orchestra and one of Europe’s premier orchestras, so to be recognized like this by our hometown is truly special.
Join us for this unique milestone in our journey on December 4 and 5.
This is a big deal!”
