Chaosmonger Studio are working on a new Voivod video game called “Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior.” Fans can contribute to the project through Kickstarter.

Gameplay:
‘Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior’ is a classic 2D action-platformer with a deep sense of exploration, inspired by Metroidvania classics and arcade run-and-gun games. The gameplay will feature:

Story and Setting:
The game follows the journey of the Voivod, a post-apocalyptic warrior lost in a surreal nightmare. Due to his constantly mutating form, he has lost his head and is guided by his own disembodied mind, known as ‘Nothingface.’ His quest is to recover scattered fragments of his consciousness, and only once he has reclaimed them all can he escape his nightmarish fate.
With a storyline woven from across Voivod’s entire discography—from early classics like ‘War and Pain’ and ‘Dimension Hatröss’ to later masterpieces such as ‘The Wake’ and ‘Synchro Anarchy’—players will experience a mind-bending narrative of rebellion, survival, and cosmic horror.
From cybernetic fortresses to desolate wastelands, each environment is crafted to reflect the band’s unique sci-fi aesthetic. Longtime Voivod fans will recognize familiar themes and references, while new players will be drawn into an immersive and otherworldly adventure.
The Band’s Involvement:
Voivod will work closely with the game developers to supervise the entire creative process, ensuring that every aspect of the game stays true to the band’s deep and intricate lore. From the visual design to the soundtrack and gameplay elements, the band is deeply involved in shaping the experience to be an authentic tribute to their legacy.
Furthermore, each member of Voivod will also take on specific roles in the development of the game:
* Michel “Away” Langevin will contribute to the game’s visual design and artwork.
* Daniel “Chewy” Mongrain will oversee the adaptation of Voivod’s music into the game’s soundtrack.
* Denis “Snake” Bélanger will provide the voice of the protagonist.
* Dominic “Rocky” Laroche will playtest and provide valuable gameplay feedback.

That’s why past band members (with family approval in the case of Piggy) have kindly agreed to make a special appearance in the game as charming NPC cameos! You might find them standing in a corner, exchanging a few cryptic words, selling you a powerful weapon, or even offering a key quest item. This is our way of honoring their contributions to the band’s history, ensuring their presence lives on in the Voivodian universe.

The game is being produced by Nicola Piovesan and Chaosmonger Studio, a production company with over 20 years of experience in creating films and games. The name ‘Chaosmonger’ itself is inspired by Voivod’s lyrics, reflecting a deep connection with the band’s artistic vision. Nicola and Chaosmonger Studio previously created the acclaimed music video for Voivod’s ‘Target Earth’ over a decade ago—an ambitious project that brought the band’s world to life in stunning 3D, long before the era of AI-generated content.
This game is a truly international effort, with talented artists and freelancers from all over the world contributing their skills to bring this vision to life. Their combined expertise ensures that ‘Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior’ will deliver an immersive, high-quality experience that stays true to the band’s universe.
The adaptation of Voivod’s music for the game will be led by Canadian composer Yann Latour, who has previously collaborated with Chaosmonger Studio on stunning projects.
