Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation Partners With Carhartt To Recruit Skilled Workers This Labor Day

Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation have partnered with Carhartt in an effort to recruit skilled workers this Labor Day. The campaign includes an ad that was inspired by the 1981 classified ad that brought Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield together in 1981.

All Within My Hands is very excited to announce a partnership with global premium workwear brand Carhartt! In honor of Labor Day, all online sales from Carhartt.com on Monday, September 6th, will be donated to our Metallica Scholars Initiative.

Carhartt took a page from our history when, over forty years ago, Lars placed a classified ad in a Los Angeles newspaper that brought him and James together. Following suit, the workwear company and AWMH created a want ad to raise funds and connect people to workforce education opportunities to earn them gratifying jobs in the trades. The goal was to recruit a new generation to the skilled trades as the U.S. faces a labor shortage, especially in live events.

A few lucky job seekers who answered the ad attended a stage-building workshop hosted by our friends Upstaging, a production and transportation company that has been helping us keep the show on the road for decades. Carhartt documented the workshop experience in a new video, “Hard Rock is Hard Work,” showcasing various trade jobs in live events that are also transferrable to the larger job market – including welding and fabrication, lighting and electrical, construction, transportation, and more.

Our workforce education program not only connects students to hands-on learning but provides direct support to 23 schools through the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to enhance their career and technical education programs.
