Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Evereal

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Evereal.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

EVEREAL: We’ve been called symphonic metal, and though we do have some symphonic elements – strings and piano – I think you could just call us Melodic hard rock, or metal. It’s not operatic like some female-fronted symphonic metal bands. Our vocals are clean and emotional with metal guitar tones layered with strings and synths. Evereal was created by our guitarist, Stephen Roberts in 2011 as a studio project. The concept was to recruit musicians to write and record music with emphasis on groove and melodic content content utilizing symphonic qualities. Following the release of our first album in 2017, we went through a lineup change, with a new drummer and new lead vocalist. Alicja Moniatowicz, the band’s new lead singer and lyricist, was the perfect fit for Evereal. In 2019, we began writing and recording new material. The result is a new four-song EP, entitled Falling Down, and two new music videos, released in 2020.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

EVEREAL: Our influences are varied and each member brings their own influences to the table. For example Alicja listens to everything from Within Temptation and Breaking Benjamin to pop music, Cristina Aguilera and Doja Cat…. Steve listens to everything from classic prog rock to Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Yes to Tears for Fears. We find inspiration in artists who are fearless and trailblaze their own directions unbounded by constrictive stereotypes and genres. Nelson, being a drummer, was influenced by Led Zeppelin and Rush and some of those earlier hard rock bands. He didn’t even start using double kick until a few years ago, when he joined a Nightwish tribute band before joining Evereal. Now he loves symphonic metal bands like Within Temptation and Nightwish.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

EVEREAL: Our newest release was a 4 song EP that has seen significant success with the release of two singles “I Bleed” and “When You’re Gone” racking up over 500,000 streams worldwide. You can expect something different with each new release. There’s a little something for everyone in our music. Clean vocals with heavy guitars and layered strings and keys gives you something new to pick out with each listen. While we strive to keep with the big guitar sound we are focusing more on expanding with different keyboard sounds and vocal layers while staying true to the metal sound we have been recognized for.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

EVEREAL: We strive to recreate the music as faithfully as possible live so the listener gets to experience that same full sound found on the official release. Couple that with a group of great players and it makes for a tight live performance.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

EVEREAL: We would love to see Evereal continually releasing new material and taking the band around the world for the fans to experience live. But honestly that will depend on where the music community finds itself when the pandemic settles down. We hope the music scene rebounds enough to allow us to continue on this musical journey.
