Last night (May 22), Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer, Chad Smith and comedian, Will Ferrell, had their long awaited drum off on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Ferrell and Smith came out dressed exactly the same and were pretending to be one another, for an interview with Fallon. After the interview, they had their drum battle. Towards the end of the battle Smith did a complex drum solo, which led to Ferrell pulling out a cowbell to reprise his famous Saturday Night Live sketch, when he played Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear The Reaper.” The biggest surprise of the night was when the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers came out to play “Don’t Fear The Reaper,” with Will Ferrell. This whole thing came about when Ferrell claimed to be Smith, after someone on Reddit said the two look alike. The drum battle also benefited the charities Little Kids Rock and Cancer for College.
