A new Metallica exhibit, titled “The Art Of Metallica,” will be coming to the Haight Street Art Center in San Francisco, California. Fans can check that out from November 5 through January 10.

The band shared more information:
“Haight Street Art Center is opening its doors to fans for ‘The Art of Metallica,’ an exhibition of art behind four and a half decades of heavy music, on view from November 5, 2026, through January 10, 2027. The exhibition will feature the original paintings that became the album covers for ‘Ride the Lightning’ and ‘Master of Puppets,’ concert posters and flyers chronicling everything from historic gigs through the most recent tour, fan art from around the world, and so much more.
Take a deep dive through the works of Pushead, explore the evolution of the Metallica logo, and test your pinball wizardry in the art center’s interactive area featuring the Metallica Remastered Stern Pinball machine. Also on display will be a never-before-seen mosaic-style portrait of us constructed entirely from Dunlop guitar picks by artist John Arena. The one-of-a-kind piece is signed by all four band members and the artist, and will be available to win in our latest sweepstakes with Fandiem, benefiting our foundation, All Within My Hands.
The exhibition is also a San Francisco story. In the 1960s, the Haight-Ashbury became the heart of a cultural revolution in which music inspired art, art inspired music, and together they defined a generation. Rock poster art was born here, on the same street HSAC calls home. ‘The Art of Metallica’ places our story within that lineage through historic artifacts from the city’s legendary music history—among them the original marquee sign from The Old Waldorf, home to two of our earliest Bay Area gigs.

Brian Lew, curatorial advisor and co-author of the book “Murder In The Front Row: Shots From The Bay Area Thrash Metal Epicenter,” commented:
“As San Francisco has historically intertwined visual art with music, Metallica’s visual identity has also grown into a vital part of how their music is experienced. ‘The Art Of Metallica’ celebrates this visual legacy: a story of individuality, evolution, rebellion, and artistic vision that continues to grow.”
Kelly Harris, the executive director of the Haight Street Art Center, also added:
“San Francisco has always been a place where art and music fuel one another, and it feels fitting that this exhibition lands here, steps from Haight Street’s own history as the birthplace of rock poster art. Metallica’s story is San Francisco’s story — a band embraced early by this city’s community of fans, whose visual identity has grown right alongside its music. We’re honored to bring that legacy home.”
