I was recently given the opportunity to interview Kingdom Collapse vocalist Jonathan Norris about the band’s new album “Survivor” (out October 30). You can check out that chat below.

METAL ANARCHY: First of all, what would you like to tell readers of this site about your new album?

NORRIS: “SURVIVOR” is a soundtrack of anthems that take you through the ups and downs of life. Catchy hooks, big riffs, in your face messages and an underlying theme of hope.

METAL ANARCHY: What was the recording process like?

NORRIS: With this being our debut album, we wanted to give the world a taste of what Kingdom Collapse is. So the entire process was done in-house. Writing, recording, producing, mixing mastering. 100% artistic integrity.

METAL ANARCHY: What themes are you exploring on the record?

NORRIS: Death, loss, relationship struggles, existential thoughts, really anything that life can throw at you.

METAL ANARCHY: You have already shared several singles from the effort. How have fans been responding to the new material?

NORRIS: It’s been incredible seeing the reception of the new singles. “Survivor” has been at radio for the last month or so and is already at #30 so we’re stoked to see where it ends up!

METAL ANARCHY: I really dig your cover of Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten.” What made you decide to take on that track?

NORRIS: “Unwritten” was one of those songs that was EVERYWHERE growing up. So it never left my head. One day we were on tour and had stopped at a place for lunch and it was playing and I remember thinking “We would crush a cover of this” so we got home from that tour and I recorded it for fun. So we decided to go all in and put it out with the debut album.

METAL ANARCHY: What are some of your personal favorite songs from the album?

NORRIS: Definitely “Up In Flames.” That song came together so naturally and had a spirit of its own. I remember writing it with David and the words just spilled off the page.

METAL ANARCHY: You’re about to hit the road with Lakeview and Adelitas Way. What can fans expect from those shows?

NORRIS: We’ve been out for most of the year but it’s been awesome introducing all the new songs into our set and seeing everyone singing along to them. A Kingdom Collapse show is always a party.

METAL ANARCHY: Which unreleased track are you most excited to debut live?

NORRIS: Definitely “Up In Flames.” It’s such an anthem/sing-along track. Think old-school “lighters in the air” type of vibe.

METAL ANARCHY: Lastly, what are you future plans beyond the album’s release?

NORRIS: We have lots of exciting touring stuff in the works for 2027. We’ll be ringing in the New Year with Sevendust in Orlando at the House of Blues Disney World. So I think that’s a good sign of what’s to come.
