Drummer John Runkle has announced his departure from It Dies Today. His final show will take place at the Rec Room in Buffalo, NY on November 7. The band will then move forward with returning drummer Nick Mirusso. The aforementioned concert will see the band celebrating their 25th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of “Sirens.” All Out War, Gemstar, Sicksense, Autoignition, and Jeweltone will open.

Runkle commented:

“Equal parts happy and sad to announce this will be my last show with @itdiestodayofficial. @nmirusso and I will be splitting this set in November, and then he will be back permanently. Nick brings an intangible to the sound of this band that he, and only he has. I’ve been part of this band in some capacity for 17 years, and still will be, just not as drummer. This was entirely my idea, and Nick and I have worked together for weeks to make this happen. Thanks everyone for the memories, and catch me one last time in November, it’s going to be a special set- and welcome back Moots!”

Mirusso added:

“Saying that I’m going to be back behind the kit with the boys feels a little surreal.

First and foremost, I want to thank John. What he contributed to keeping IDT going means more to me than I can probably put into words. He gave this band everything he had, and ultimately helped pave the way for me to return.

I’ve known these guys for a very, very long time. We’ve shared so many incredible moments and memories together, and this band has always been a massive part of my life.

There are a lot of emotions wrapped up in coming back. I’m excited. I’m grateful. I’m still processing it all, but more than anything, I’m looking forward to playing music with these guys again and seeing where this next chapter takes us. To quote Rocky Balboa the Italian Stallion…. “There’s still some ‘stuff’ in the basement.”

Thank you to my brothers John, Nick, Mike, Chris, Steve, and everyone who has supported this band over the years. ❤️
