Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with A Permanent Shadow.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

A PERMANENT SHADOW: A Permanent Shadow is actually a solo project disguised as a band. It’s basically myself working with two producers and some guest musicians. So far we’ve released three studio albums and two EP’s, with a new album to be released in January 2027. Stylistically, we play a mix of post-punk and electronic rock.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

A PERMANENT SHADOW: David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Nine Inch Nails, LCD Soundsystem, among many others.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

A PERMANENT SHADOW: Our new single is called “We’ll Be One” and it’s quite mellow compared to previous releases. The lyrics are quite heavy in contrast, dealing with stalking and obsession. We also shot a fantastic video at a derelict prison in Barcelona.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

A PERMANENT SHADOW: We don’t play live much, because it’s a very costly endeavour to put a band together and take it out on the road. I want to present a full band show with a quality production, and as long as there are no guarantees, this is a bit of a challenge. I’d love to tour though, but in style.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

A PERMANENT SHADOW: Touring in style.
