Ghost’s New Film Will Receive A Theatrical Release In August

Ghost will be releasing a new film in standard and IMAX theaters in August. The effort is expected to feature the band’s September 2025 shows at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, MEX.

Frontman Tobias Forge previously told Revolver the shows were captured on 16mm film:

“I really wanted to make a point this time around that we’re not making [2024’s] ‘RITE HERE RITE NOW,’ or a ‘Rite There Rite Then,’ this is a different film. It’s not a fictitious film. And one way to achieve that so we don’t repeat ourselves was to create this technical positioning…

We just said that, ‘Well, one way to achieve that is if we go all-in and shoot it with real film, because that way we will end up with less material…

We were looking at my favorite films of all time — ‘Let’s Spend the Night Together’ and also ‘Rock Montreal’ with Queen. We were like counting clips, trying to understand. How many cameras did they have? Where did they place the cameras? How long are the clips? How many clips are there in a song? And compared to ‘RITE HERE RITE NOW’ where we did, countless, I mean so many cuts in every song. It was just ridiculous. Like 60, I’m probably not underestimating that. Whereas ‘Let’s Spend the Night Together,’ a song might be like, seven clips or something. And I don’t find that underwhelming at all.

So, that was the reason why we chose to film it, because it automatically clips our wings a little. We have to make it work with what we have in the can…

So, we hope that it’s going to be a cool but different film that we can have come out at some point when the Skeletour is over. This is the show, this is the ‘Skeletour’ show.”
