Poison The Preacher Sign With Seek And Strike, Share “Sucker Punch” Music Video

Poison The Preacher have signed a new worldwide deal with Seek And Strike. The band’s new album, “Vs The World,” will be released through the label on May 23. A music video for the effort’s first single, “Sucker Punch” (feat. Dead Heat’s Chris Ramos), can be found below:

Vocalist/guitarist Juan Pablo commented:

“We are incredibly excited to be a part of the Seek and Strike family. We are proud to have the opportunity to work with these excellent professionals moving forward. We chose them because they showed a genuine interest in the band and we’re very like-minded individuals. We believe this is the next logical step in our career and we are sure we’ll make a huge impact together.

The first single, ‘Sucker Punch,’ is focused around people who just talk trash and have confrontational attitudes. We chose it as the lead single because we feel that the song perfectly encapsulates what this album is all about. It has everything that defines us as a band; harmonies, weird time signatures, gang choruses, mosh riffs and sick ass breakdowns.

You can also hear our songwriting maturity on this track, as we’re truly finding our definitive sound. We decided to shoot this video with an actual audience to capture the mayhem and the rowdiness of our live shows. It was shot at a friend’s rehearsal space and we were blown away by the amount of people that showed up. It was incredibly fun and chaotic, just what we needed for the video. I think you can really feel the intensity and that’s exactly what we wanted.

Also, this song features Chris Ramos of Dead Heat and his vocals just took this up another level. We first met Dead Heat in 2023 at the 100% Hardcore Fest in Bogota, which we both played. We hung out the whole fest and quickly became buddies. I just really love how this collaboration turned out and Chris really elevated the song with his performance.

This is our debut, full-length album and Vs The World is the culmination of everything we’ve done up to this point. It certainly feels like a big step up for us as a band. Everything fell correctly into place with this record and it’s a precise portrait of what we’re all about. We finally developed a sound that really represents us to the fullest.

It also got us in a mindset to constantly improve, evolve, experiment, create and do better, so i’ll probably be saying this on the next record, but I think it’s clear that we really outdid ourselves with this one. We are a band that doesn’t like to create the same song twice, so all of the tracks came from different places, so there’s something for everyone here.

This is what truly makes us something more than just a thrash band with breakdowns. We’re a proud mixture of all the heavy music you love and an experience that is set to open your music boundaries. This is the Colombian Style, this is Poison the Preacher.

If you have never heard of us, give it a spin. I’m sure that whatever it is you like, Thrash, Death, Hardcore, etc. you are gonna find a song you’ll love on this record. If you are already a fan, I’m sure you’ll learn to appreciate different music styles than the ones you are used to. We are not reinventing the wheel, but you’ll find everything you love about heavy music and more through a unique perspective.”
