“Spinal Tap II: The End Continues” To Hit Theaters In September

The release date has been confirmed for the new “This Is Spinal Tap” sequel. The film, which is titled “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues,” will hit theaters on September 12.

Bleecker Street has acquired the U.S. distribution rights of the movie and its predecessor. Prior to the sequel’s release, the company will be releasing a restored version of the original film in theaters this summer. It will also be available on digital and streaming platforms.

The following was said about the theatrical releases:

“’Spinal Tap II: The End Continues’ reunites director Rob Reiner with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer as they reprise their iconic roles as the legendary heavy metal band Spinal Tap in this long-awaited sequel. Featuring cameos from Elton John, Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks, and more. Coming to theaters this September! And coming to theaters this summer: the original 1984 cult classic ‘This is Spinal Tap’ returns to the big screen for a special engagement on its 41st Anniversary in a newly restored edition.”

Rob Reiner commented:

“So happy to be working with the folks at Bleecker Street who are passionate about keeping Tap’s legacy alive and happy to give Marty DiBergi another shot at relevancy.”

Bleecker Street’s CEO Andrew Karpen and president Kent Sanderson also added:

“We feel privileged for the opportunity to work with Rob Reiner and the brilliant minds behind the original ‘This Is Spinal Tap’, and to be part of a film that has resonated with so many. ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ isn’t just a movie — it’s a cultural touchstone that pioneered the mockumentary genre and left an indelible mark on both film and music. Returning to this world through ‘Spinal Tap II’ is an extraordinary chance to celebrate its legacy while creating something fresh for both new and devoted audiences.”
