Sexual Assault Lawsuit Against Mindless Self Indulgence Vocalist Jimmy Urine Ends In Settlement

A sexual assault lawsuit that was filed against Mindless Self Indulgence’s James Euringer (aka Jimmy Urine) in 2021 has officially been settled. That complaint was brought forth by an anonymous woman, who claimed the vocalist engaged in a sexual relationship with her between 1997 and 1999 when she was 15 and he was 27.

As previously reported, the woman claimed Euringer “groomed and manipulated [her] into believing that his sexually assaultive behavior was not criminal and that by engaging in sexual activity with him Plaintiff was actually helping to protect younger girls from sexual assaults.” She also claimed that he took naked photos of her and made her “act like a small child, and suck her thumb, drool, and pee in her pants.” Euringer also allegedly tried to downplay their sexual relationship in public.

Warner Music Group, Warner Communications LLC, Elektra Entertainment Group, and the band’s former manager and producer Joseph Galus were named as defendants in the suit as well. The woman accused Elektra and Galus of “negligence and aiding and abetting sexual battery, and that the two knew about and enabled Euringer’s behavior.” On top of that, the suit also said a photo of the girl was used on a band t-shirt that was developed by Elektra and that Elektra‘s A&R and Galus even witnessed Euringer engaging in a relationship with her in the studio.

Despite this, Judge John P. Cronan dismissed the claims against the labels. The accusations against Galus were later dismissed voluntarily as well. Euringer tried to get more of the lawsuit dismissed, but ultimately settled out of court. Greenberg Gross LLP, who represented the Jane Doe, told Judge Cronan the following:

“Plaintiff and Defendant Euringer have reached an agreement to settle this case. The parties are in the process of executing, and complying with, the formal agreement. Should the parties complete the settlement, the parties will promptly notify this Court and request resumption of the litigation.”

The case was closed with prejudice. As a result, the plaintiff will be unable to refile the claim or file another lawsuit related to the accusations. Each party also agreed to pay their own legal fees. You can read more HERE.
