Concert Review: Korn, Gojira, And Spiritbox In Mountain View, CA

Last night (October 6), I attended Korn, Gojira, and Spiritbox’s show at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA and it was one hell of a concert.

The show kicked off with a set from Spiritbox. The short, but intense set further cemented the band as one of the most exciting acts in the current metal scene. The group’s flawless musical execution combined with Courtney LaPlante’s powerful vocals really helped warm things up for the night ahead. Some highlights from their set included: “Soft Spine,” “Circle With Me,” and “Holy Roller.”

After Spiritbox, it was time for Gojira! The progressive metallers put on an Olympic (pun intended) sized show full of fire and mesmerizing visuals. The massive stage production combined with the band’s impeccable musicianship and technicality made for what was perhaps the strongest performance of the night. Some highlights from their set included “Flying Whales,” “Another World,” and “Amazonia.”

Once Gojira wrapped up, it was time for the headliners of the evening, Korn! The band had the massive crowd eating out of the palms of their hands the second the first notes of “Here To Stay” hit. From there, the screams of ravenous fans continued to grow even louder as the band celebrated their 30th anniversary with the kind of high-energy set they are known for. Admittedly, Gojira were an extremely hard act to follow, but with Korn being the icons that they are, everyone had a great time nonetheless. The nü-metal giants proved their music is timeless with an explosive performance that had generations of fans singing along and rocking out the whole way through. Some highlights from their set included “Dead Bodies Everywhere,” “Blind,” “Shoots And Ladders,” which included a partial cover of Metallica’s “One,” “Y’All Want A Single,” and “Freak On A Leash.”
