Sol Invicto (Deftones, SikTh, etc.) will be releasing a new song, titled “The Obvious Play,” on October 3. That track will also appear on the band’s upcoming EP “Loosely Aware.”

Notably, the band promoted the single by poking fun at guitarist Stephen Carpenter’s flat earther beliefs and Linkin Park singer Emily Armstrong’s ties to Scientology. The group said the following:
“We may have a flat-earther in the band but… We definitely don’t have any Scientologists… Want to thank Linkin Park for making our pending marketing run a hell of a lot easier…”
They later added:
“In a parallel universe, we are releasing so much music you guys are asking us to shut up and get back to shit-posting & memes.”
Carpenter also commented, while confirming his return to the stage with Deftones:
“Thank you for all your kind words, feeling good and excited for you all to hear the new Sol Invicto record ‘Loosely Aware‘ See you all at [Dia de los Deftones]!”
