Nirvana’s Smiley Face Design Lawsuit To End In Settlement

According to Billboard, the lawsuit regarding Nirvana‘s smiley face logo will soon be heading towards a settlement. That complaint was filed after Marc Jacobs allegedly ripped off the design as part of the company’s “Bootleg Redux Grunge” line. In their argument, the band claimed the logo was created by the late Kurt Cobain. However, former Geffen Records art director Robert Fisher then jumped in saying he created the image. Despite this, the band maintained their stance, while also arguing that Fisher‘s claims were basically irrelevant since he was in a work for hire situation as part of the art department at Geffen. The three parties have since agreed to reach a settlement within 21 days.
