Josh Klinghoffer (Ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers) Facing Wrongful Death Lawsuit Following Traffic Accident

Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghofer has been hit with a wrongful death suit after allegedly striking and killing 47-year-old Israel Sanchez during a distracted driving incident. The lawsuit was filed by Sanchez’s daughter Ashley and it can be read HERE.

The following was said in the complaint:

“On or about 2:50 p.m., March 18, 2024, Defendant Josh Adam Klinghoffer drove a
black 2022 GMC Yukon with no license plates north on Meridian Avenue, then turned left
on West Main Street into a marked crosswalk, hitting a 47-year-old male in the back who had
been walking in the crosswalk with the right of way, and was in fact halfway across the
crosswalk. The pedestrian was thrown and/or dragged across the asphalt where he sustained
blunt force trauma to the head, and lay on the pavement until medical transport arrived. He
succumbed to his blunt force injuries later that day, when he was pronounced dead at
Huntington Hospital at 5:28 p.m. The man who was killed was Decedent, Israel Sanchez.”

The suit continued:

“Video of the incident shows that Defendant Josh Adam Klinghoffer made no braking or slowing motion until after he fatally struck Israel Sanchez, indicating that Defendant was likely driving while distracted. Video of the incident shows Defendant Josh Adam Klinghoffer was using a device mere seconds before he crashed into the decedent.”

The following was also added:

“Defendant Josh Adam Klinghoffer went off on tour with his band after the incident. He has never contacted the family. He has shown no remorse for his behavior.”

Footage of the incident has surfaced via TMZ. Klinghoffer’s attorney, Andrew Brettler also issued a statement to the site:

“It was a tragic accident. After Josh struck this pedestrian in the intersection, he immediately pulled over, stopped the car, called 911 and waited until police and the ambulance arrived. Obviously, he’s cooperating with the police throughout the traffic investigation. This was purely a tragic accident.”
