GARZI has blasted Craig Owens (D.R.U.G.S., Chiodos) for comments he allegedly made during a recent tour with Escape The Fate. GARZI claims Owens took aim at him and Stitched Up Heart, calling them “diversity hires.”
GARZI said the following onstage:
“In case you ever wondered, I’ve got a shirt that says ‘diversity hire’ on it. That’s because that’s what Craig Owens of D.R.U.G.S. thinks I am. He thinks I am here purely because I am black. So to that I say fuck you Craig Owens.”
He also added the following on social media:
“No, this was escape the fates tour back in September-October. He was upset about some of the shows selling poorly and said it’s because the openers (me and mixi from stitched up heart) were diversity hires and that it should have been a better lineup to fit the bill”
For his part, Owens doesn’t appear to have commented.
