Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With AIRE COMO PLOMO

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with AIRE COMO PLOMO.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

AIRE COMO PLOMO: AIRE COMO PLOMO is a metal band that delivers transgressive and thought provoking releases with a backup of chaotic and high-octane live shows. It’s also our go to therapy as artists to deal with the bleakness of living in our country, where striving is more an order of the day than thriving.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

AIRE COMO PLOMO: The main drive to our craft is being part of the local scene. Our peers. The effort from everyone involved is enormous, because we’re constantly trying to keep our gigs away from extinction… in art, music, film, you name it. You can’t bypass it, so it becomes the immediate fuel. Then you have all the information overdose that you dig: the classics, the defiant ones, the martyrs, the new schools. And we mainly write about that, how everything we consume from all corners of the world goes through a grinder called Colombia, and churns out a distinct breed of flavour. A harsh but addictive flavour.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

AIRE COMO PLOMO: Our new single and music video is “Erase the One”, it’s a blunt, straightforward and blazing manifestation about undermining idolatry, so a lot of stuff is going to go under the radar the first couple of times. We’re huge history, film and comic book buffs, so we encourage people to take as many views as possible, because there’s a ton of hidden meanings and Easter eggs. The band isn’t shy about putting a critical stance out there, so be warned and prepared, the imagery is strong and transgressive.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

AIRE COMO PLOMO: Depends on the stage possibilities, but visually it’s a striking presence. Our performance is intense, chaotic and wreckles, we have a very destructive old school hardcore punk vibe mixed with a mean headbang.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

AIRE COMO PLOMO: For us touring the world became an obligation, here we have a blast and on the other side we are very devoted as artistic and cultural promoters, but we know for a fact that you have to put yourself out there or else it’s the terminally local loophole. So touring Europe is definitely a must, have at least 2 new records and hammer our undeniable stamp as one of the most important bands in Colombian metal history.
