Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With The Scum

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with The Scum.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

THE SCUM: In 9 years we have released two EPs and two albums of Old School death metal, our records have been mixed and mastered by important metal producers like Tomas Skogsberg, Dan Swano and Andy Classen. We had two professional videos and the first one of the song “Dead Eyes” was awarded as the best 2020 metal video of Colombia, our country. Our second full length “The Hunger” was released a few months ago by the European record label Satanath records and the Colombian label Wild Noise Productions.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

THE SCUM: Swedish death metal bands like Entombed, Dismember, Unleashed and Grave and British old school death metal like Benediction, Bolt Thrower, Carcass, etc.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

THE SCUM: “The Hunger” was released a few months ago and has 10 tracks of aggressive and savage old school death metal, our songs are direct, catchy and memorable. I think that every one that likes that kind of music will have a really good time listening to our album. The record was mastered by Dan Swano and this is a guarantee of a very professional sound too.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

THE SCUM: A lot of headbanging and a pit full of violence. Hahahahaha.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

THE SCUM: Our goals are to get releases of all our music an all physical formats (Specially vinyl) and to become an act that gets invited to all of the most important and big metal festivals in Europe, North, and South America. We hope to record and release at least two more full lengths in the next years.
