Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With pMad

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with pMad’s Paul Dillon.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

DILLION: pMad is the solo artist title taken by Paul Dillon from Galway, Ireland. But blessed to have fantastic, family & friends like Liam Martin (Zedakube Recordings & Records), Dominik (Protonaut Studio) and Ortega (Elith Mastering Labs).

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

DILLION: My musical influences are so broad and I think it will come across in the singles and album. Dark goth, new wave/80’s, metal, indie and alt rock. A sucker for a bass line. Big Cure-head in the day and still Goth (The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, etc), that looked out of place at Indie ‘A House’, Fugazi/Sonic Youth/Dinosaur Jr., loving Tom Waits to Suicidal Tendencies. Varied inspiration coming out in what I create.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

DILLION: ‘Who Am I’ is my debut single, a mix of goth, darkwave, rock, punk, post-punk with a modern twist. Hopefully it is an impressive piece of production, which brings a fusion of punk, electro-pop and Goth rock with a touch of dark metal, giving listeners a truly exciting listen. ‘Who Am I’ asks the questions of Good and Evil & If you don’t live you die (inside). We owe it to ourselves to be our best selves and enjoy our lives, but not to the detriment of others..

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

DILLION: Nothing planned, all brand new to this. Covid of course has restricted the couple of opportunities that have come pMad’s way. But quite happy to wait and get the releases out and be confident that there is a big enough audience to play to. Loving it all so far, everyone has been so kind. Long may it last?.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

DILLION: The future will bring what it brings, just looking forward to it!! The plan is to release ‘Medicine’ the follow up single on 1st February 2022 on CD single with ‘Who Am I’ also on the CD along with all the streaming services. ‘Medicine’ is an introspective look at ourselves and hopefully gets across that ‘Hope is the Medicine’. Then the 3rd single ‘Broken’ and so on until we get to the album release sometime in 2022. Anything can happen between now and then and pMad will face it and enjoy it!
