Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Catching Mangoes.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
CATCHING MANGOES: We are Catching Mangoes – a 5-piece indie rock band from the South UK. We’ve been playing for around 5 years together, mainly as a 3 piece but recently have extended our reach to 5. Earlier this year we released our first album “Kevin’s Town”.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
CATCHING MANGOES: While recording this we were listening to a real eclectic mix of tunes, but mainly 70’s rock n roll like The Doors and The Beatles. We have made a playlist of all the tunes we were listening to at the time that we made the album – Here’s the link!
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
CATCHING MANGOES: “Kevin’s Town” is a concept album following the journey of a young boy names Kevin who goes on a crazy adventure, in search of his long-lost father and trying to find out the truth behind his hometown. It’s a pretty wild ride and quite a mix of genres and tunes, so I think there’s something for everyone in there. If you’re quite light-hearted and up for having a bit of a laugh, but also like good classic tunes, you’ll be into it, I’m sure.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
CATCHING MANGOES: We pride ourselves on our live shows, they are always high energy and fun and we try and vary up the set where we can to keep it interesting. We often dress up too…
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
CATCHING MANGOES: Honestly I have no idea, but that’s why its exciting!! We are working on new tunes at the moment from a variety of different influences like Santana and some more latin type stuff so we definitely won’t be doing the same stuff as now. Can’t wait to find out!
