According to The New York Times, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s top infectious-disease expert, recently said that live venues may be able reopen this fall. However, that will only be the case if the U.S. reaches herd immunity for COVID-19 by vaccinating 70 to 85 percent of the population.
Fauci said the following
“If everything goes right, this is will occur some time in the fall of 2021. So that by the time we get to the early to mid-fall, you can have people feeling safe performing onstage as well as people in the audience.”
He went on to say that venues with good ventilation and proper air filters might not need to place any restrictions for performances. Although, people will still likely have to wear masks for the foreseeable future.
Fauci added:
“I think you can then start getting back to almost full capacity of seating.”
