Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Dead Fish Handshake.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
DEAD FISH HANDSHAKE: We like to think of ourselves as a modern rock band who strives for and appreciates melody and dynamics.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
DEAD FISH HANDSHAKE: U2, Soundgarden, A Perfect Circle, Radiohead, NIN, STP, Pearl Jam.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
DEAD FISH HANDSHAKE: “Lies…and all that jazz” is our latest release everywhere. This is our first full length. We’ve released 2 EP’s up until now so its nice to put a longer piece of art into our catalog. This album is little heavier than our past releases and that was somewhat by design because we wanted to return with a bang after being gone for a few years. But with that said, it definitely doesn’t lack the balladry and dynamics that have become a big part of who we are. We definitely feel like it’s a great balance of sonic textures that our fans have come to expect from us.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
DEAD FISH HANDSHAKE: Right now, they can expect livestreams. Ha! But if we ever get back to it, they can expect authenticity, high energy and a safe place to get lost in the songs with others that can relate.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
DEAD FISH HANDSHAKE: Probably to the hair transplant doctor or to the nursing home but either way we will rock that senior center. Ha!
