Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Liam Naughton & The Educators.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
LIAM NAUGHTON: We are Liam Naughton & The Educators. I am Liam, I write songs and play guitar. The Educators Australia are Lauren Reece on Drums and James Vinciullo on Bass. Cameron Hayes on Lead Guitar is a global member and George Addison Atkinson is our UK drummer.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
LIAM NAUGHTON: Jesus Christ and Vincent Van Gogh. I’m sure they are the same person. Neil Young is my hero, but I admire the trailblazers who said fuck you to the man… Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Tyson Fury. They knew / know who they were / are.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
LIAM NAUGHTON: The “Cut On A Cut” EP. You should listen to it because it’s Real. If you want some fake, trendy, dumb, copy cat, nicey nicey bullshit then go down the street. They’re a dime a dozen but you won’t find anything like that here mate. It’s up to you how you spend your cash though I suppose.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
LIAM NAUGHTON: You won’t feel short changed unless you thought you were going to a strip show. Real shit, no fakey fakey, ‘this is a nice song’ bullshit…No, no it isn’t and it doesn’t have to be either!! For real shit!! This isn’t any messy around fancy pancy idiot stuff, You got a brain, you got a heart, there’s a place for you here…real stories with real grit and no hiding places.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
LIAM NAUGHTON: Maannnn!!! Is this a job interview????
