Iron Maiden File Lawsuit Against Internet Counterfeiters

According to Trademarks & Brands Online, Iron Maiden have filed a lawsuit against Internet counterfeiters at the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Divisionon on January 23. The band have chosen to take action to stop them from infringing on their trademarks. The article goes on to say that the group are claiming that these online counterfeiters are “trading on the band’s reputation and goodwill” and that they are infringing on various US trademarks with “Iron Maiden” in their names. This affects the consumers who “have come to expect the highest quality from plaintiff’s products provided under the ‘Iron Maiden’ trademarks.” The band are now seeking a “permanent injunction against the online sellers, transfer of the domains, and either profits or $2 million for each infringing use.” They also want the court to make online outlets “disable and cease providing services for the defendants selling the counterfeit goods.”
