Metal Vocalist Danica Roem Becomes First Openly Transgender State Lawmaker

Democrat Danica Roem, who sings for the metal group Cab Ride Home, has become the first openly transgender state lawmaker. Roem took her seat in the Virginia House of Delegates following an election victory last night (November 7). The seat was previously held by Republican Robert Marshall, who once called himself “chief homophobe” and tried to implement laws that would make it so members of the LBGTQ community could be denied service, and make it so transgender people could be restricted in regards to public restroom use.
