A new study conducted by Mats E. Eriksson of Lund University, Sweden, Luke A. Parry of Bristol University, U.K., and David M. Rudkin of Royal Ontario Museum, Canada has been published on Scientific Reports, and it contains findings of an extinct worm, whose name has a very metal origin. It is a new genus of extinct polychaetes (bristle worms) and it goes by the name “Websteroprion Armstrongi” after Cannibal Corpse’s Alex Webster.
Here’s an explanation for their name choice:
“Named after Alex Webster – a ‘giant’ of a bass player – combined with ‘prion’ meaning saw.”
Webster commented as well:

Webster also posted a new video for a song from his Blotted Science project, because as he said, it “seems appropriate to share this today:”
