Here is even more Metallica news for you today. Besides the debut of their new song “Moth Into Flame” and the announcement of their Copenhagen, Denmark shows, the band also performed on “The Howard Stern Show” and took part in a Town Hall event for SirusXM. Check out footage of the band performing on “The Howard Stern Show” below.
As for the Town Hall event, you can check out Rolling Stone‘s article about it HERE. One interesting thing to note about the event, is the fact that the band revealed that they wrote a new song as a tribute to Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead). That track, appropriately titled “Murder One” after Kilmister’s bass head, will feature Motörhead song titles/lyrics, and it will appear on the band’s new album “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” (out November 18).
James Hetfield said the following:
“Motörhead had a lot to do with Metallica sitting here right now. But just Lemmy as an entity, as kind of a father figure, he helped us a lot. He was unafraid. And he was a character. And he was himself. And we all respected that so much. He did his own thing to the last breath. No matter who you are, how could you not be inspired by that?”
Lars Ulrich added:
“In the summer of 1981, I followed Motörhead around on tour. That was what made me want to be in a band. When I came back to Southern California and called up James and said, ‘Listen, we’ve got to give this a shot,’ … Motörhead is the catalyst.”
