An 82-year-old America’s Got Talent contestant named John Hetlinger made headlines when he covered Drowning Pool‘s “Bodies” on the show. CJ Pierce has since talked to Artisan News Service, and said that the band are trying to get in touch with him, so he can sing the track onstage with them.
Pierce said the following:
“We’re going to get in touch with John, we’re going to have him up onstage with us at some point before the end of this year. I know it’s going to be happen, we gotta have him out there doing it live with us, that’ll be awesome.”
“We gotta get him on like a big festival in front of a lot of people. We definitely need to find, pick the right place and time for it. I’m looking forward to meet him and again we do appreciate, we’re flattered that he sang the song, I think he did a killer job. I was entertained, I’m still cracking up over it.”
He also talked to Loudwire, and said Chicago Open Air might be a good place for Hetlinger to perform:
“That would be great if he could do that [perform with the band]. I still have a flood of emails and texts that I have not even gone through yet, but I’m hoping. The feelers are out there and I think it would be fun. Obviously he had a great time with the song and we have a great time with the song every night so it would be awesome to have him onstage with us. I just mentioned Open Air because it’s the next big festival coming up that we’re playing and if we’re going to do it, I’d rather do it right and have him on a big show like that. So I’m hoping he does. We’d love to get in touch with him or hope he gets in touch with us and I’m looking forward to meeting him anyway. He just seems like a great guy anyway, working on the Hubble telescope and everything, that’s freaking cool. And he was a Navy pilot. Good for him.”
