According to Loudwire, Deftones have released an unreleased song, called “Smile,” on the one year anniversary of Chi Cheng’s death, to honor the fallen bassist. Vocalist Chino Moreno posted the song today, which was originally supposed to be on the unreleased album Eros. The album was shelved after Chi Cheng’s car accident in 2008, and Deftones worked on the album Diamond Eyes, the following year. With the release of “Smile” fans get a chance to hear Chi Cheng’s bass playing one more time. R.I.P. Chi Cheng.
