The July 5, 2025 Back To The Beginning show at Birmingham’s Villa Park marked Ozzy Osbourne‘s last performance and farewell to his fans (in his hometown just 17 days before his untimely death) reuniting with his Black Sabbath band mates: Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward marking the iconic group’s first performance together in more than 20 years and their triumphant final show. The sold-out show commanded more than three million requests for the 44,000 available tickets with the event watched by a record-breaking global live audience. The concert—hosted by Jason Momoa with musical director Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine guitarist)–included sets from some of the biggest names in hard rock and metal including from Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Gojira, Guns N Roses, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Metallica, Pantera, Rival Sons, Slayer, and Tool, along with All-Star segments with special guests Adam Wakeman, Andrew Watt, Billy Corgan, Chad Smith, David Draiman, David Ellefson, Jake E. Lee, KK Downing, Mike Bordin, Nuno Bettencourt, Papa V Perpetua (Ghost), Ronnie Wood, Rudy Sarzo, Sammy Hagar, Sleep Token II, Steven Tyler, Travis Barker, Vernon Reid, Whitfield Crane, and Yungblud.

With a running time of three and a half hours, the Blu-ray features highlights from the July 5 performances, plus special guest performances of Jack Black performing “Mr. Crowley” and Fred Durst performing “Changes.” Alongside the concert, fans can revisit the story behind the landmark event through a collection of bonus features, including a behind-the-scenes featurette, video tributes (highlights include clips from Dolly Parton, AC/DC, Ricky Gervais and more) and ‘Sounds of Birmingham’ Documentary.

Directed for screen by Ben Wainwright-Pearce, with the live concert directed by Tim van Someren, OZZY OSBOURNE & BLACK SABBATH: BACK TO THE BEGINNING was produced by Mercury Studios, the world’s leading music-focused content studio. Trafalgar Releasing brought the film to cinemas worldwide as a global event cinema release, continuing its work bringing major music events and performances to audiences around the world.

“Back to the Beginning was a once-in-a-lifetime event that will go down in music history,” says Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy Osbourne’s wife and manager, who oversaw the legendary concert and executive-produced the film. “Ozzy suffered from chronic pain during the final six years of his life. His only wish was to perform one last time to thank his fans and say goodbye. It was an incredible day when his peers in the rock world descended on Aston from all over the globe to celebrate his legendary talent and extraordinary legacy.”

Tristan Whitlam of Mercury Studios said: “Back to the Beginning is a remarkable document of a day that brought the music community together on an extraordinary scale. For Mercury Studios, the opportunity to preserve these performances and the stories surrounding them was incredibly meaningful. These special home entertainment and music releases gives fans the opportunity to revisit that historic day and experience the performances, tributes and emotion of the occasion for years to come.”
