Ill Niño drummer Dave Chavarri and bassist Laz Pina, alongside their wives, are trying to get a restraining order and injunction against ex-guitarist Marc Rizzo and his girlfriend Christine Samaroo. They decided to seek legal action due to alleged harassment.
Chavarri and Pina claim Rizzo, Samaroo, and three “John Doe’s” began a digital harassment campaign in 2022. According to them, their wives were targeted by fake accounts pushing false narratives about their character. Samaroo in particular was accused of spying on Chavarri’s wife and commenting on all of her social media posts.
The harassment allegedly led to personal attacks on Chavarri and his character. Confidential personal information was said to have been spread as well. On top of that, false claims about Pina were reportedly shared with his wife.
Rizzo allegedly apologized about Samaroo’s actions. However, the harassment ramped back up shortly after. Samaroo has since been accused of recruiting other harrassers as well.
The complaint also mentioned that Chavarri was falsely accused of illegal business practices for his touring rental business. Rizzo allegedly tried to defame him in the eyes of customers and friends to sabotage future contracts.
Five counts were mentioned in the document. This includes two related to libel and business disparagement, two related to tortious interference in contracts and business relationships, and one related to the restraining and injunction request.
The involved parties are seeking financial relief and a judgment on further relief.
