Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Q&A With Red Giant

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Red Giant.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

RED GIANT: Red Giant’s style is dark and honest. We are not afraid to talk about the darker side of life and that intern gives us a darker heavy sound much in the style of the 90s grunge bands like Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam.

We use dynamics alot and have songs that go from dark and heavy to Heart felt ballads. We want to show the world for what it is. Not sell people a lie that everything is ok and life is easy.

On Guitar & Vocals we have Dave Simpson who is the main songwriter and is always pushing the band forward.

On bass duties we have 2 that change up the bands dynamic.

One is Mr Johnny Simpson. A cool and very calm player that never looks strained but when combined with John Joe’s drums becomes an unstoppable machine and a great platform for Dave’s guitar and vocals.

The other is Miss Keira Kenworthy. A monster bass player with great stage presence and thunderous sound.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

RED GIANT: My main influences are people like John Frusciante, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher to name a few.

People who made music their life and identity.

We are all focused on being the best musicians we can be when we play together.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

RED GIANT: Our latest release is a song called ‘Overcome’. It’s actually the first song that I ever wrote and has finally found a permanent home after many different iterations over the years.

The song is all about being pushed around and bullied and how that affects your mental health. If you listen to it you might find comfort and solace in it and a knowing that if you have gone through something like that or are currently going through hard times that you are not alone.

We see you.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

RED GIANT: Something different everytime. We never play anything the same way twice. Theres always something different and we are always stretching the songs to see where they can go.

Also expect to feel a sense of community. We take the crowd with us wherever we go and always involve them at every turn.

You’re never just watching Red Giant. You are part of it.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

RED GIANT: That all depends on the state of the music industry, its very hard to say.

If we are still making music I’ll be happy with that.
