Jury Discharged In Ian Watkins (Ex-Lostprophets) Murder Trial

The trial for the murder of convicted pedophile Ian Watkins (ex-Lostprophets) has now been delayed. According to BBC, the jury was discharged and the case will be re-tried on February 8, 2027.

Two inmates, 25-year-old Rashid Gedel and 43-year-old Samuel Dodsworth, were charged with murdering Watkins at HMP Wakefield prison. The musician was serving a 29-year sentence with an additional six years on licence for 13 counts of child sex offences

Gedel, a convicted murderer, was said to have stabbed Watkins three times in the head and neck before handing the weapon to Dodsworth, a convicted rapist, who was in charge of disposal. However, both men have denied this assessment.

Despite the evidence, the jury has since been discharged for supposed “legal reasons.” Justice Hilliard said the following in Leeds Crown Court:

“Very reluctantly, I’m going to discharge you and the case will have to be re-tried. That’s disappointing for you and for everyone.”
