Maynard James Keenan On Alex Honnold’s Tool-Soundtracked Climb: “It’s Extremely Impressive”

As previously reported, free solo climber Alex Honnold recently unveiled the playlist he used during his Taipei 101 climb in Tapei, Taiwan. The soundtrack, which mostly consisted of Tool, even caught the attention of Tool singer Maynard James Keenan, who called the stunt “extremely impressive.”

Keenan told ABC the following:

“Not everybody and their mother texted me every three seconds telling me about it or anything.”

He went on to share his thought on the stunt:

“Jesus, what b****. What the heck were you thinking, dude? It’s impressive! It’s extremely impressive, but, I mean, I wouldn’t make it past the first floor. I would fall to my death.”

He also added the following when asked what role he could play in a future climb:

“I’ll be the guy down below eating french fries making fun of him.”
