Former MTV host, radio personality, etc. Matt Pinfield has officially emerged from his coma after suffering a serious stroke. He is continuing to recover and is planning to return to work as soon as he is able.

Pinfield told The Hollywood Reporter the following:
“Guys, I’m alive. I’m recovering and am going to come back swinging. I was unresponsive for two months. Friends were thinking they were coming to see me for the last time. The doctors never expected me to speak or to walk again.”
He also shared words for his daughter Jessica, who recently filed for a temporary conservatorship:
“She’s the one who saved my life. She protected me.”
Pinfield went on to reveal that he suffered pneumonia during his hospitalization and had to be placed on a ventilator. Despite this, he never lost his knowledge of music:
“My friends said I went on about ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’ and how they couldn’t keep up with what I was saying. They were, like, ‘Yeah, he’s still got that brain.’”
He also added the following about the support he has received from those in the music industry:
“I want to say how great grateful I am for all the people that that were wishing me well. The love of the community helped me get through this.”
Pinfield also confirmed that he will be discharged from his rehabilitation facility later this month. He continued:
“I’m definitely going to take some time to recover. Then I’ll do my radio shows again and get back to work doing what I love, which is to entertain people playing music.”
