While She Sleeps guitarist Sean Long has announced that he will be releasing “BR8 – DEMO DISK 1” on February 14. The effort will be the first in a series of demo collections.

Long commented:

“Hello. This has been on my mind for a while now. I’ve been none stop writing music for the past 17+ years. When off cycle with sleeps Ive wanted a place where I can offload some creativity that doesn’t need some huge campaign to promote and I can release things as and when I want. I simply make more music than is physically possible to put out with any one entity and I feel I have a lot more to give.

My first ever release.

BR8 – DEMO DISK 1. Out this Friday 14th.

This is a collection of demos from when I was living with my mum and before I had an ounce of recognition whatsoever. Some of which are 14+ years old. The essence of which cannot be recreated which is mystical to me. I was in my bedroom dreaming of the life I have now whilst making these demos. Not knowing where I’d be today. But make no mistake, these are actually demos un touched after all these years, with the exception of a couple more recent demos and ideas from then until now. Anyone who knows me knows just how much I cherish demos often more than the finished masters. It’s the closest thing to me in terms of feeling like I’m worth something to myself. The closet (I) “Sean” gets to understanding the subconscious inner workings that animate our life. It’s like I get to hear what my cells and atoms had to say at the time. This is the real us that is contained beneath the tip of the iceberg that is our conscious mind. Beneath lies our true identity riddled with trauma, joy, pain and confusion culminating into the shadow. Which inevitably manifests in one way or another through our creative work with demos and rough ideas being the closest to that source.

This is the first drop of 3 demo disks to come. In the future I will be working on releasing a full studio album but for now I wanted to get these out in the world to start the journey. I will say, if anyone gets the inclination that my attention may drift from sleeps in this endeavour, dont be fooled. I’ve got the most important album of my life in the works. But for now, enjoy the younger me in these old demos. Pre save it so you get notified when it drops.
