Shun On New Material: “We’ve Decided To Release These Songs One At A Time Rather Than Waiting Until The Full Album Is Done”

Shun have offered an update on their new music. Notably, the group have “decided to release these songs one at a time rather than waiting until the full album is done.”

Vocalist Billy White said the following:

“Update on recording progress:

Hello everyone, Billy here. I wanted to give you all an update on where we are with recording new material.

We’ve decided to release these songs one at a time rather than waiting until the full album is done. Balancing family, work, and life makes it tough to tackle an entire album all at once, so setting smaller, achievable goals helps us keep momentum—not just for you, but for ourselves too. At this point in our lives, just finishing and releasing each song feels like a big victory. It’s been over two decades since we last put out new music, and it feels incredible to be creating again.

Each track will be released Bandcamp and on all major streaming platforms as they’re finished.

With that said, I’m excited to announce that the first track is complete! It’s called “Earth (Intro).”

For those who saw us live back in the day, this song might feel familiar. It was always the opening for our set at every show, setting the tone for what was to come. We felt it was only right to begin this new chapter the same way. We hope “Earth” not only brings back some of those memories but also sets the stage for what’s coming next on the album.

“Earth” is about reconciliation and the constant struggle to balance the positive and negative thoughts we all face—whether it’s despair, hopelessness, or uncertainty about how to move forward. It’s about finding a way to hold on to hope and push through when life feels overwhelming.

As bandmates and lifelong friends, we’ve tried to relaunch shun several times over the years—not just for ourselves, but to create something meaningful that others can connect with. We’ve all experienced these highs and lows, and without each other’s support, it wouldn’t have been possible to keep going. Sometimes it feels like we’re failing and should give up, but there’s always a spark—however small—that keeps us moving forward.

Thank you so much for sticking with us. We can’t wait to share “Earth” and everything that follows.”
