As previously reported, The Funeral Portrait will be opening for Marilyn Manson during his August 17 show in Chicago, IL. However, the band’s decision to take the gig has been met with controversy due to the numerous sexual assault allegations against Manson. As such, bassist Rob Weston has taken to social media to respond to the backlash. He reportedly said the following in some since deleted tweets:
“I’m sorry my band that has consistently played 200 cap venues for 7 years + has a chance open shows in front of thousands of people and people wanna be upset by it. If you truly know the people we are and you know the grind we’ve been on, you wouldn’t be mad. If what we are doing isn’t affecting your life personally, then why get mad about it? You weren’t a fan before, and that’s fine. No one is forcing anyone to go to these shows.”
