As previously reported, Year Of The Knife were recently involved in a serious van accident that left vocalist Madi Watkins in critical condition and the other members of the band with numerous injuries. Now, according to a new update, Madi still “has a very long journey to recovery ahead of her.”

Sol Knopf, the father of guitarist/bassist Brandon Watkins, commented:
“I want to thank everyone who came out to JD Shuckers last night (Thu July 13) to help raise money for our daughter in law Madi Watkins’ recovery. Wow! The love you all shared moved me beyond measure. Special thanks go to my dear friend Sarah Gilmour for helping to set everything up, to Jamie Davis (JD Shuckers owner) for his friendship and never ending generosity and support, to all the JD Shuckers team of bar tenders, waiters, waitresses, kitchen staff and greeters….you guys TOTALLY rocked it! to Cape Gazette for sharing the press release Sarah created and to WRDE and Coast Life TV for having me on their show Wednesday to promote the evening.
Our daughter in law, Madi Watkins, has a very long journey to recovery ahead of her. She’s already had surgeries to fix her broken jaw, facial fractures, femur and ankle. The most troubling and challenging of her injuries is the trauma to her brain. It is impossible to say how long it will take for Madi to fully return to us. Healing of the human brain after severe trauma remains a mystery, and requires a patience from loved ones that is virtually impossible to achieve.
Our son, Brandon, my wife Toni and Madi’s mother Michelle will remain out in Utah for the foreseeable future to see Madi through this long journey. The funds raised continue to help the family with the costs involved. We also know that insurance deductibles and costs not paid for by insurance will be enormous. Every dollar donated makes a huge difference and we are so grateful. Much love and thanks to you all, Sol”
This news comes after Brandon recently revealed that Madi will be moved from the ICU in the near future. If you want to help the band out, you can do so by donating through GoFundMe.
