During a recent interview with Metal Hammer, M. Shadows discussed Avenged Sevenfold’s new album “Life Is But A Dream…” (out June 2). Notably, the frontman revealed that the effort includes ideas from the band’s late drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan.
Shadows said the following when asked what The Rev would think of the new material:
“He’d be stoked. Me and [guitarist Synyster Gates] know that guy better than anyone. He was always the biggest proponent of instigation and trying new things.”
Shadows went on to say that one track, titled “Mattel,” includes a bridge written by The Rev, while another track, titled “Beautiful Morning,” includes lyrics the drummer wrote with Gates for their Pinky Smooth project. He added the following about the latter song:
“That’s something him and Brian came up with a long time ago: ‘It’s a beautiful morning, it’s a beautiful day, everybody is smiling, in a beautiful way.’ That’s when it [the song] gets creepy.”
