Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have a Q&A with Alex_Y and Sydius of Arctic Dreams.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
AlEX_Y: Our team was founded in 2009 in St Petersburg, Russia. But at the moment we are based in Belgrade, Serbia. We call our musical style “arctic-dreams-metal”, in fact it’s a mix of traditional metal styles with classical music and electronic gothic.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
AlEX_Y: Well, first of all, it’s heavy metal, of course. We are inspired by a wide variety of sources. It can be books, movies, computer games and events.
SYDIUS: Technical and progressive metal, classic rock, jazz, classics. Every day I add smth to this library of inspiration. From particular elements like a beat or sound of bass or a background line to global cultural and philosophical concepts
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
AlEX_Y: Our latest album is called “And The Agony Has Started.” We’ve been working on it for a very long time and it’s where you can hear our formed musical concept.
SYDIUS: Our sound is an epic journey through the depths of space and the chaos of the universe. It’s a sonic exploration of the beauty and brutality of the cosmos, with soaring symphonic orchestration, crushing guitar riffs, and intense vocals. If these esthetics resonate with you – jump in our starship
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
AlEX_Y: An interesting show.
SYDIUS: When people come to our live shows, they can expect a high-energy performance that blends elements of metal, electronic, and orchestral music. We put a lot of effort into creating an immersive experience that transports the audience to another world.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
AlEX_Y: We see us as a band that actively tours and releases regularly.
SYDIUS: Continuing to evolve and push the boundaries of what’s possible in metal music. We’re always experimenting with new sounds and styles, and I think we’ll continue to explore different genres and themes in our music.
