Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Segmentia

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Segmentia.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

SEGMENTIA: Segmentia delivers pop metal from the north! We are mixing pop & electric sounds and symphonies to metal music. The songs are melancholic, yet hopeful and they tell mostly about true stories, feelings and observations of the life in this universe. There is four of us: Arttu plays the guitar, Matti plays the bass, Kansana does the vocals and I, Jere, am playing drums.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

SEGMENTIA: As a songwriter in this band I cannot name particular artist as an influencer in our music. Although I know that there are so many of them that you cannot pick just one! But f.e. Amorphis, HIM, Helloween, Dimmu Borgir & SIA are all artists that have had some kind of an influence in my creative process. Yet most important influencers for me are true life stories of ordinary people. Also nature, animals, art in its many forms and of course the people in my life; those are my true muses.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

SEGMENTIA: We are releasing our second EP “Alone” in early next year. One can already listen to 3 singles from this EP in most of the streaming platforms. Newest one is a song called “Save Me” and in this song one can find all the musical elements that are Segmentia’s core. As you can figure out from the title, the song is a cry for help.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

SEGMENTIA: Our live show is energetic and honest. One audience feedback says that you can say what the song is about just by looking, other that he feels empowered as an audience member. We are there for the audience, so that they can fly with us if they just dare to hop on board!

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

SEGMENTIA: Our goal is to be an active, international band touring as much as possible. If you asked if we wanted to play in Wembley stadium, I would show you my suitcases already packed 😀 But yeah, I want our music to be recognizable and that people can join our flow in music.
